I Should Tell You I'm Disaster

Samantha James was working her normal morning shift at the clinic. She'd already seen a handful of patients that morning, and though her body was getting worn down from the cold she refused to leave until she'd at least spoken to each of them personally. She sat down on the seat of her walker outside an exam room door to read the next patient's file. The file was that of a man named Roger Davis. She'd seen the blonde male in the clinic a few other times in recent months, but never treated him personally, another one of her nurses always seemed to get to him first. She gave a small sad smile when she realized how similar to Chris he was, before standing up, setting the file down on the seat and using her walker to push the door open.

Roger was sitting, looking around nervously hating that he had to come to this place. He wrapped his jacket tighter around himself as someone left the clinic, letting more of the cold in, making him shiver slightly. He wrapped his arms around himself as well for a minute or so, before sighing and putting his head in his hands; just as he heard a door open.

Samantha gave Roger a warm smile, side stepping around her walker to close the door before walking over to him. "Hi," she said, leaning back against the seat of her walker. "My names Samantha. I'll be in charge of your care this mornin'" her southern accent already coming through.

Roger slowly lifted his head to look at her. "Oh, hey." He said, sounding disinterested. "Can we just get this over with? I don't like being here..." He added, saying the last part quieter.

Sammy nodded. "Of course," she said. "I understand this isn't easy for you." "I lost a um......a close friend to AIDS a few years ago, I took care of him so I understand how you feel." She quickly tried to wipe the memories to the back of her mind. "Well, I've been goin' through your recent records, and everything seems pretty stable as of late," said Samantha. "This is a good sign, means I don't have to fired anyone for not properly watchin' your health, so I think for now why don't you tell me what you think needs to be done, anything been botherin' you at all, any random fevers since we saw you last?"

"Oh..." Roger said, frowning. "No...I'm fine, I guess. ...no fevers anyway." He mumbled, running a hand through his hair.

"That's good," said Sammy. "Means your still stable at the moment, we'll probably just take blood to compare with last time."

Roger nodded and stood up. "Okay..." He said.

Samantha went to the supply room to get what was needed while another nurse got Roger ready.

Roger frowned when he had to take of his jacket, still cold. He looked around the room as the nurse did what she needed to.

Sammy soon came in with the syringe and needle. "We'll try to make this quick as possible," she said, cleaning a spot on Roger's arm.

Roger nodded and mumbled something, shifting uncomfortably as she cleaned his arm.

"Relax hun," said Samantha gently, attaching the needle to the syringe.

"I don't like having to do this..." Roger mumbled, frowning as he looked away.

Sammy nodded. "Nobody ever really does," said the brunette as she slipped the needle in carefully. "I'd be worried if they did."

"Good point...I would be too." Roger said, smiling slightly at her.

"That's what I like to see," Sammy smiled. She drew the blood she needed and gave the vial to another nurse before cleaning Roger's arm.

"What? The smile, or the fact that I would worry too?" Roger asked, smirking.

"Maybe a little bit of both, chuckled Sammy lightly.

Roger rolled his eyes and frowned again, looking down at the ground.

"What is it?" Sammy asked lightly.

"Nothing." Roger said, keeping his head down.

"You can talk to me," said Sammy. "I won't bite."

"No...it's nothing. I'm fine." Roger said, going to get up.

"If you insist," said Sammy. "Just know I'm here if you want to talk."
